Purity Mmayi, Head of Sales, eBee, selecting the lucky draw winner at FLA PLA 2024 Purity Mmayi with lucky draw winner Michael Kamau of Nemco Farm
lower Logistics Africa and Perishable Logistics Africa 2024
partnered with African e-mobility company eBee to give
away an eBee Nyuki bicycle to the lucky draw winner Michael
FKamau from Nemco Farm during the recently concluded two-
day conference in Nairobi, Kenya on March 27 and 28, 2024.
eBee is an African e-mobility company founded in late 2021
in Kenya and is now operational with electric bicycles in Kenya,
Uganda and Rwanda. The company sell and rents e-bicycles and
also operates a fleet of last-mile delivery riders, creating green jobs
for women and youth.
Priced at 111,999 KSh ($851), designed-and-built-in-Africa
Nyuki bicycles, according to eBee, are perfect for last-mile
deliveries. Fully charged in 4 hours, Nyuki bicycle can ride for up to
90 kilometres and it features a durable and rugged frame that can
handle any road and up to 50 kilograms of weight.
The lucky draw was an attempt by Logistics Update Africa,
the organiser of FLA PLA events, to appreciate the presence of
shippers and their contribution to the industry, economy and the
conferences. Thus the shipper-focused event had a strict eligibility
criterion by limiting the luck draw entries only to individuals
representing companies that do farming of flowers and perishables.
While speaking during the FLA 2024, Isidoor Maljers, founder,
eBee, who was pleased to see a lot of his customers including
Kuehne+Nagel, DB Schenker and AirFlo who use their bikes
in their operations, noted that they are one of the few last-mile
e-bicycle players in the East African market.
He also pointed out that even though they are very active in the
flower logistics industry, they don't have any cold storage bikes.
“But we are working on it,” he said.
“We sell our bikes to all types of people in the supply chain,
from freight forwarders to ground handlers and also to the people
on the farm.”
He noted that for supervisors on the farm, it's a good
alternative for motorcycles. “It's a low-hanging fruit to not just
make operations more sustainable but also easier if you are
working on the farm.”
