September 11, 2019: Air Namibia has announced the resignations of the chairperson and vice-chairperson from its board of directors with effect from September 5, 2019.
Citing personal reasons and significantly increased responsibilities in their respective professional roles, advocate Dee Sauls- Deckenbrock and Nangula Kauluma have indicated that they are no longer in a position to avail the time commitment required for the discharge of their duties to the company.
Deckenbrock stated, "With our departure from the company, we are honoured to have had the opportunity to serve in our roles on the board of directors as a demonstration of our commitment to our country and its economy. We remain as always, willing to serve where our skills and talents can best be utilised to make a positive contribution. We sincerely wish the company, board of directors, management and the shareholder the very best in Air Namibia's future endeavours."
Deckenbrock is a practising lawyer with her own law firm, while Kauluma is an executive at First National Bank (FNB) Namibia.
They were both appointed to the Air Namibia board of directors for a three-year term with effect from January 1, 2019. Their resignations come five months after the airline's acting managing director, Mandi Samson, relinquished the position she had held for close to five years on 15 March 2019.
