Emirates SkyCargo’s B777F carries 100 tonnes from Dubai’s International Humanitarian City to Burkina Faso
Emirates SkyCargo has worked with International Humanitarian City (IHC), the world’s largest hub for humanitarian aid based in Dubai to transport an urgent consignment of relief materials to Burkina Faso.
June 22, 2020: Emirates SkyCargo has worked with International Humanitarian City (IHC), the world’s largest hub for humanitarian aid based in Dubai to transport an urgent consignment of relief materials to Burkina Faso. The carrier's B777F carrying around 100 tonnes of aid, including 88 tonnes of core relief items from UNHCR, and 12 tonnes of essential kits of medicines and medical supplies urgently required for combatting Covid-19 from WHO, departed from Dubai and arrived at Ouagadougou on the same day.
“Emirates SkyCargo moves essential cargo around the world every day and we are honoured to assist the efforts of the International Humanitarian City to distribute aid and relief to vulnerable communities around the world. We consider it our social responsibility to support the delivery of vital relief materials to places where they are needed urgently and the strategic location of our hub in Dubai along with our wide body aircraft fleet enables us to reach a wide range of destinations within the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe within eight hours, allowing for rapid and efficient transportation of aid materials,” said Nabil Sultan, Emirates divisional senior vice president, cargo.
“The International Humanitarian City is proud to partner with Emirates SkyCargo for providing the assistance in delivering this urgent aid flight to Burkina Faso for the benefit of close to 600,000 internally displaced people, a number of which risks going up to one million. This comes at a time when we have another ongoing emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic, for which the humanitarian community in Dubai is working with urgency to provide the assistance needed in all parts of the world,” said Giuseppe Saba, CEO of the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.
