March 26, 2021: Astral Aviation has transported 132,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and syringes to Juba, South Sudan, for the UNICEF COVAX Facility via its Nairobi hub.
The shipment was carried by Air India from Mumbai, India to Nairobi.
Astral operates a dedicated schedule service from Nairobi to Juba since Independence to South Sudan.
In his LinkedIn post, Sanjeev Gadhia, founder and CEO of Astral Aviation, noted, “Thanks to UNICEF Supply Division and our partners Air India, Kuehne+Nagel and Network Aviation Group.â€
Astral Aviation is one of the 16 airlines that signed an agreement with UNICEF to prioritise the transport of Covid-19 vaccines, essential medicines, medical devices and other critical supplies to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
