Airports Company South Africa and Munich Airport extend their agreement

Mar 15, 2017: Airports Company South Africa and Germany’s Munich Airport have extended their sister agreement partnership which began in 2015.

The official signing of the extended agreement took place at the Bavarian Ministry of Finance, Regional Development and Home Affairs in Munich, and extends to new areas of knowledge sharing and partnership that will be mutually beneficial to both parties.

The extended agreement was signed on behalf of Airports Company South Africa by its chief executive officer, Bongani Maseko and the acting chairman, Roshan Morar. They were joined by Markus Söder, the Bavarian Minister of Finance, Regional Development and Home Affairs who is also the chairman of the Munich Airport Supervisory Board and Michael Kerkloh President and CEO of Munich Airport.

Maseko, commented, “There are new avenues for collaboration that will benefit our passengers and operations through the development of new technologies and products. This will enhance our professionalism and world class service offering.”

Söder, said, “I'm delighted that Munich Airport is not only a hub, serving 257 destinations worldwide, but can also contribute as a company to forging stronger global ties for Bavaria. With the intensified cooperation agreed here, we have made the bridge connecting our airports even wider,"

Under the existing cooperation agreement, which covers a wide range of activities from IT and security to real estate development, delegations from the two airports have already exchanged visits in both directions. This has allowed experts in many areas to exchange ideas and share their experience in airport operations and processes.

The addendum to the existing agreement now extends to joint marketing activities that will help to raise awareness of the partner airports in the respective countries. This will include exhibitions at the airports, mutual links between websites and joint appearances at events. In addition cooperation will also be explored in the area of car parking products/management at the airport.

Munich Airport Group, with its 14 affiliated companies, provides a wide portfolio of services. In addition to its core business at Munich Airport, it also offers consulting and management services worldwide.
