October 30, 2019: Effective November 18, SA Express has announced that it will commence flights from Johannesburg, South Africa to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

SA Express will operate seven flights a week between the destinations, except on Wednesdays, but will offer a double daily frequency on Fridays.

This new route aims to reinforce the airline’s network presence in the Southern African region while offering the most convenient connections to business and leisure customers.

SA Express interim CEO Siza Mzimela says, “We remain focused on growing and optimising our route network – especially within the region. The new routes offer customers the convenience of a growing network that is positioned to complement our enhanced flight schedule.”

Bulawayo is the developing, industrial hub of Zimbabwe and the airline is confident that this route is poised for further growth through the stimulation of frequency.

The news follows soon after Air Zimbabwe’s last operational aircraft, a B767, was impounded by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) in Johannesburg over accumulated debts for landing and parking fees as well as for passenger service charges.
