March 18, 2020: Effective today, cash-strapped airline SA Express suspended its operations until further notice due to the impact of rapidly spreading COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
Last month, SA Express was served with an urgent court application to be placed under business rescue.
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) report released this month, African Airlines have lost $400 million (£312 million) since the outbreak of the virus in China.
"The airline will utilise this period to review its current network and streamline operations for improved efficiency," it said in a statement.
