Jul 12, 2017: Royal Air Maroc (RAM) launched two new domestic air routes linking Al Hoceima to Casablanca and Tangier on July 10.
The new flights will be available twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. The two new air routes will bring the total number of weekly frequencies that will link Al Hoceima to Casablanca, Tangier and Tetouan to six.
RAM announced five days ago its intention to launch two new direct flights to Al Hoceima from Tangier and Casablanca, in addition to the two weekly connections already in operation between Casablanca and Tetouan on every Friday and Sunday.
The airline said that the price for flights from Casablanca to Al Hoceima is MAD 400, while direct flights departing from Tangier are offered at MAD 300.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Tourism has taken a number of “urgent measures” to revive tourism in the Rif.
“Urgent measures will be taken to save the current summer season and promote the tourism sector in the city of Al Hoceima and its region,” said Mohammed Sajid, Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicrafts, and Social Economy.
The minister also stressed the need to encourage Moroccan tourists to visit the region, noting that the organization of cultural and sporting events is likely to enhance the attractiveness of the region.
