Port of Pemba to handle 27k TEUs per annum
Mozambican Ports and Railways has unveiled the newly upgraded Port of Pemba which will operate 24X7. The upgrade has increased handling capacity from 18,000 TEUs a year to an estimated 27,000.
July 19, 2019: Mozambican Ports and Railways has unveiled the newly upgraded Port of Pemba which will operate 24X7. The upgrade has increased handling capacity from 18,000 TEUs a year to an estimated 27,000.
According to CFM, the port recently underwent a $5 million rehabilitation and reinforcement period with the implementation of modern infrastructure and equipment. It is now able to handle large quantities of any type of cargo, with emphasis on graffiti, marble, cotton, wood and clinker.
Speaking at the unveiling, CFM chairman of the board, Miguel Matabel, stated that the upgrade would drive tariff to Pemba port.
