Aug 20, 2018: Ethiopia’s National Airways will commence flights between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu, Somalia from August 22, restoring air services which for near four decades have been impossible due to the past political situation between the two countries. The route will be served initially three times a week.

But like it happened with relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea has detente broken out here too following a radical change of foreign policy by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The airline earlier in August has also launched flights to the Puntland region’s capital of Garoowe. All flights operated will be Embraer ERJ145 jet aircraft.
