Jan 4, 2016: IAG Cargo shipped four pallets of blankets and sleeping bags from London to Nairobi as part of a humanitarian cause in Kenya.
IAG Cargo collected over 400 cabin blankets and 150 crew sleeping bagsfrom across the IAG family, the majority of which will be donated to Kenyan school children in need. IAG Cargo has worked closely with The Order of Malta, an organisation that cares for people in need through its medical, social and humanitarian works, and Blankets4Africa, an organisation that works with charities to distribute blankets to those most in need.
Drew Crawley, CEO at IAG Cargo said, “We understand the difference these blankets can make during the cold months and knowing that they will be put to good use to those who need them most really resonates with our staff. We have reached out to both our airline and trucking partners to make this shipment possible and are extremely thankful for all of the support given. Everyone involved in making the donation happen has really enjoyed working with Blankets4Africa and The Order of Malta when helping us import and distribute the blankets. We’re very proud to support such worthy charities.”
Sister Maria Rosa at Amani naWema Children’s Home expressed her gratitude for IAG’s support. “We depend on donations such as these, as all of our children have lost their parents and depend on support received by donors. We are hugely grateful and wish you all a very happy festive season,” she said.
