June 18, 2019: Luxembourg-based Cargolux has expanded its Latin American presence by introducing weekly flight to Santiago de Chile.

The weekly connection serving Santiago will be part of an extensive South American routing that includes four other destinations in the area. The flight will be routed Luxembourg-Viracopos-Santiago de Chile-Quito-Bogota-Aguadilla before returning to its home base via Amsterdam.

On welcoming this development, Pier Curci, Cargolux's vice president of the Americas, stated, "The addition of Santiago to the network further strengthens Cargolux's position as a flourishing player on the South American market. It is also a testament to the importance of the region in global trade lanes, especially when it comes to perishables such as fruit and flowers."

Over the years, Santiago has increasingly become a gateway for European products destined for the Latin American market. The market demand is especially solid for sensitive equipment and highly specialised commodities such as machinery, spare parts, pharma, building material, and electronics.

The return to Santiago de Chile contributes to enhancing Cargolux's vast service offering in the region. The scheduled all-cargo flights offer regular connections between South America and Europe, with direct links to Amsterdam and Luxembourg, as well as extensive road feeder services to additional European destinations.
