September 21, 2020: Brussels Airlines is planning the relaunch flights to Entebbe, in conjunction with Kigali. Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni announced on Sunday that the country's international airport and land borders will reopen and resume operations for tourists from October 1.

The initial schedule with two weekly flights will leave Brussels on Tuesday and Friday, returning to Brussels from Entebbe on Wednesday and Saturday.

Different timings are expected for flights from November onwards and additional services will depend on demand for the routes to Rwanda and Uganda.

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) had asked for $40 million to prepare the airport for reopening.

Entebbe International Airport was closed to passenger traffic since March except for evacuation and repatriation flights and cargo. The closure hit hard sectors like tourism which rely on aviation.
