Oct 30, 2018: British Airways has launched four new weekly services between London and Johannesburg, increasing the number of direct flights between the cities to 18 a week.

A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, its newest aircraft, is deployed alongside the existing 14 weekly A380 services. British Airways also opened a new route from London to Durban on October 29 and will offer three weekly services, also using Boeing 787-8.

In addition, it will increase its daily winter Cape Town schedule to provide double-daily summer flights from London Heathrow as well as introducing three weekly flights between Gatwick and the Mother City next month.

“In total we will be operating our largest schedule ever between the UK and South Africa; 38 flights a week to three destinations using Boeing 747, Boeing 777, Boeing 787 and A380 aircraft,” said Sue Petrie, BA commercial manager for southern Africa.
