October 09, 2020: Bollore Transport & Logistics Cote d'Ivoire unloaded 900 tonnes of equipment, including a turbine, an electric generator and various other materials, in the Yopougon municipality of Abidjan on August 18 and 21. The equipment is intended for the construction of the new Azito thermal power station to be carried out by the Spanish supplier and builder, Cobra.
The teams of Bollore Transport & Logistics implemented innovative logistics solutions at the Port of Abidjan adapted to the reception and handling of equipment from Europe. They shipped the equipment to the Yopougon production site via the lagoon using cranes, self-propelled modular transporters and a barge outfitted by the shipyard operator, Carena.
Joel Hounsinou, managing director of Bollore Transport & Logistics Cote d'Ivoire, said, "As part of the operation, we notably transported a 361-tonnes turbine, one of the heaviest loads ever transported in our country. Our ability to devise logistics solutions to support the completion of this project provides expertise that serves the development of the energy sector in Cte d'Ivoire. The know-how of our teams is an undeniable asset that helps our customers to meet their logistics challenges and thus contribute to the well-being of populations."
The power station, which starting in 2021 will produce 253 MW of electricity, will not simply boost Cote d'Ivoire's electricity production capacities; it will also help to develop an energy mix composed 42 percent of renewable energies by the end of 2030.
