June 10, 2021: On June 02, Bollore Logistics La Réunion once again supported the French Red Cross, through the Indian Ocean Regional Intervention Platform (PIROI), for a humanitarian aid operation carried out thanks to the financial support of the ministry of foreign affairs after the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Bolloré Logistics teams in Reunion Island sent 67 pallets of 120 cubic metres, the equivalent of 41 tonnes of equipment consisting of materials made up of emergency shelter kits (tools and tarpaulins) in order to reinforce the actions deployed by the French Red Cross of the DRC in support of people relocated following the eruption.

The material was delivered to Roland Garros airport in La Réunion, prepared and stored in a secure area until loading. For this special operation, Bolloré Logistics chartered a B777-300ER from the French regional airline company Air Austral. In order to get around the current difficulties of landing in Goma, the plane took off from La Reunion on June 02 in the morning, bound for Kigali – Rwanda.
