August 18, 2017: Global transport and logistics company, Bollore Logistics has been chosen to provide services to Ibecor, a Heineken affiliated company supplying breweries in Africa and the Middle East. The operation consisted of transporting two out of gauge boilers from Antwerp to Harar, located at 52 km of Dire Dawa, via Djibouti port.

Heineken is the second largest brewing company in the world, looking to expand its activities in developing African countries. It distributes famous local beers such as Walia, Bedele, Buckler, and Harar in countries including Ethiopia, Ivory Coast and Kenya.

Heineken had launched a €110 million plant in Klinto, Ethiopia in 2015 with a production capacity of 1.5 million hector liters making it the largest brewery in the country. The facility will allow the company to better position itself in the local market more than doubling capacity.

With a solid track record, strong expertise within the breweries industry in Africa, Bollore Logistics Ethiopia has been awarded this significant project to support Heineken's activities. Bollore Logistics with its offices in Belgium, Djibouti and exclusive agents in Ethiopia, CLS Logistics Services, were in charge of providing end-to-end logistics services to the brewer.

Exceptional measures have been taken to handle the two 28.5 tons boilers representing a volume of 183,532 cbm. The sensitive materials were unloaded on two 40' roll-trailers then carried out with a reach-stacker and secured on trailers with eight steel chains lashings. Once unloaded in the port of Djibouti, Bollore Logistics teams managed the customs clearance and the transport to the site located 430 km from the Djibouti port.

Bollore Logistics teams were able to bolster their position with the main market players through their global presence and their extensive integrated logistics network. Bollore Logistics is proud to accompany Heineken in its African expansion.
