Raj Subramaniam to take charge as FedEx Express Prez & CEO
FedEx Corporation has appointed Raj Subramaniam as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of FedEx Express, who will succeed David L. Cunningham effective January 1, 2019.
Dec 10, 2018: FedEx Corporation has appointed Raj Subramaniam as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of FedEx Express, who will succeed David L. Cunningham effective January 1, 2019.
Cunningham, currently the president and CEO will retire as on December 31, 2018.
Subramaniam, who has been with FedEx for more than 27 years served various positions in several of its operating companies and international regions. He started his career with FedEx as VP- marketing, Asia Pacific, FedEx Express; regional president, Canada, FedEx Express; senior VP, FedEx Services; and EVP CMO, FedEx Corporation. Brie Carere, holding 17-year experience with FedEx, will succeed Subramaniam in his present role.

Subramaniam is responsible for several landmark developments at FedEx, including the first-ever global brand campaign, and a significant expansion of the company’s global product portfolio. His team launched customer-focused, value-added services like FedEx Delivery Manager® and FedEx One Rate®. Under his leadership, FedEx also retains an enviable position as one of Fortune magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies.
Born in Trivandrum, Kerala, India, Subramaniam received an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay He holds two post-graduate degrees in Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Subramaniam also serves on several advisory boards supporting the First Horizon National Corporation, US-India Business Council, the Orpheum Theatre of Memphis, the American Heart Association, and the Fogelman Center at the University of Memphis.

Cunningham began his FedEx career in 1982 in operations at the FedEx Express World Hub in Memphis, Tenn. Over his term at FedEx, he held numerous leadership positions across the FedEx Express operating company in multiple regions. Most recently as president and CEO, he has been responsible for the leadership and direction of the FedEx Express group, which includes FedEx Express and TNT.
