As per sources, the flights would be combined with final destination to its capital, Maputo, where the service would be granted domestic traffic rights to uplift passengers between the two cities.

While Beira was devastated a few months ago by Cyclone Idai, the airport reconstruction efforts are underway.

Ethiopian Airlines created Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines, which began operating on December 1, 2018, serving eight domestic destinations in Mozambique - Maputo, Nampula, Tete, Pemba, Beira, Nacala, Quelimane, and Chimoio, using Q400 aircraft. With the new flights, the carrier has plans to create a secondary hub in Beira which is more centrally located.
