DB Schenker to open Egypt’s first dry port in 2022

DB Schenker has invested in the construction and operation of Egypt’s first dry port, in association with the partners 3a International and El Sewedy.

The dry port, located in the 6th of October city, will be the largest facility of its kind in Africa.

July 21, 2020: DB Schenker has invested in the construction and operation of Egypt’s first dry port, in association with the partners 3A International and Elsewedy. It is expected to open in 2022.

The news was announced through the LinkedIn page of Jochen Thewes, chief executive officer and chairman of the board at DB Schenker.

The dry port, located in the 6th of October city, will be the largest facility of its kind in Africa. The facility is equipped with UV inspection systems and solar energy, latest standards in sustainability and cutting-edge technology. 

Last year in November, DB Schenker has joined the ‘Pan-African Mobility Alliance’, an alliance with business, science and politics initiated by the German government to promote the continent's economy. The company is committed to Africa as a future market and is strengthening its activities in Africa.
