February 23, 2021: CMA CGM and MSC have started service between Africa and South America through Terminal 3 of Meridian Port Services (MPS) in Ghana at the port of Tema.

“With this service to South America and Ghana by two leading global shipping companies, MPS will continue to be a strategic partner for the development of trade and industry, offering the various markets better connectivity in the region and beyond. We hope that this unique opportunity with CMA CGM and MSC will enhance the business activities of trade and industry players,” said Mohamed Samara, managing director of MPS.

MSC benefits from a berthing window on the MPS docks for its connections between Africa and South America. Meanwhile, CMA CGM recently launched the "SAMWAF" (South America - West Africa) service that makes the port of Tema a leading hub for containers coming from or going to Ghana and countries in the sub-region.

These services bring Ghana greater openness to the international market and stand as a significant advantage for Ghanaian economic operators, which will now benefit from shorter transport times at advantageous rates.
