Bollore Logistics handles 102 TEUs from Djibouti to Ethiopia through rail

February 19, 2020: The first unimodal train loaded with 102 TEUs bound for Indode Station in Ethiopia from Djibouti was facilitated by Bolloré Logistics. The cargo, belonging to one of the clients of Bolloré Logistics, is the first containerized consignment to be transported exclusively on rail from Djibouti to Ethiopia.
Through an agreement with Ethio-Djibouti Railways (EDR) Bolloré Logistics will provide its customers with a faster and more efficient transport solution solutions with a weekly service from Djibouti to Indode.
The Ethio-Djibouti Rail is an electronically powered standard gauge rail which cuts transit time between the two countries to 15 hours compared to road transport which can take around three days.
