After six years, Sharm el-Sheikh Airport received its first EgyptAir flight from Moscow, Russia.
August 11, 2021: After six years, Sharm el-Sheikh Airport received its first EgyptAir flight from Moscow, Russia, the airline announced in a statement. The flights will operate three times a week.
The flight comes after the Russian government gave the green light to EgyptAir and other airlines to operate flights between Russia and Egypt’s Red Sea resort towns.
EgyptAir’s A330-300 from Domodedovo Airport in Moscow carried 297 passengers on board.
In October 2015, Moscow suspended flights to and from the Red Sea resort towns after an A321 belonging to a Russian airline was shot down over the Sinai Peninsula by terrorists.
